Rochester Minnesota - "Med City"

The city of Rochester is located on the banks of the Zumbro River. The city is also the county seat of Olmsted County. Due to the city’s medical interest, the city was given the nickname of the “Med City”. The city was named by Money magazine as one of the “Best Places to Live” in 2006. According to the 2007 census, the city is estimated to have a population of 100,845.

Rochester receives an average of 30 inches of rain a year and an average of 48 inches of snowfall. The city only has 180 sunny days per year. The month of July is considered to be the warmest month of the year with average temperatures in the low 80’s. January seems to be the coolest month of the year with average temperatures single digits.

Fun Trails and the Rochester Art Center in Rochester MN

One of the most interesting activities in the city of Rochester is the 60miles of paved trails around the city. The trails may be used as biking, hiking, running, inline skating, and walking trails. The Douglas Trail is a great trail for those interested in forests and rolling fields. If you are looking for a more challenging trail, the Root River Trail is the trail made for you. The Root Valley Trail gives views of the towering limestone bluffs of the Root River Valley. There is a trail for everyone the city of Rochester.

The Rochester Art Center provides visitors with the opportunity to explore temporary traveling art collection from around the nation. The center also offers over 100 different child and adult programs. The programs include several classes, film presentations, workshops, and lectures. The center also has the outdoor Zumbro Gardens where there is a park and sculpting exhibition. The gardens also face the beautiful Zumbro River.
