The city of Tallahassee is the capital of the Florida. The city is a regional center for trade and agriculture. The city is home to several educational institutes and facilities. The city is also known for its historic plantations and is considered America’s largest concentration of original plantations. According to the 2007 census, the city has an estimated population of 168,979.

The city of Tallahassee has a subtropical climate. Summers are long and have average temperatures in the low 90’s. Summers are also filled with thunderstorms and occasional showers. Winters are mild and short. During the winter, temperatures drop in the mid to high 60’s. Snowfall can also be common in the city and some nights temperatures may fall into the low 20’s.

A Horse Trial and Lake Ella in Tallahassee FL

Lake Ella serves as wonderful place to relax and enjoy the day in the city of Tallahassee. The lake is on a 12 acre area. The lake was used for cattle and now serves as a great recreational area. The lake consists of three main fountains. The park has several picnic areas, a paved walking trail, and provides a great site for community activities.

The city of Tallahassee also is home to one of the world’s largest equestrian events; the Red Hills Horse Trial. This event is an annual major competition. The facility has four dressage rings, the stadiums course, and stabling facilities. The facility also has an avenue of shops and a variety of exhibitions. The Red Hills Horse Trial has also managed to raise more than $325,000 for their charities.

In Tallahassee there are 34 properties where the environmentally friendliness is unknown and they have not yet verified their sustainability efforts with iStayGreen.org. In the state of Florida there is a total of 2827 lodging properties listed in the iStayGreen.org directory of which 323 are represented as eco-friendly.
